Copac and museum libraries
Copac is a free merged catalogue of the library catalogues of the many Academic, National and Specialist libraries in the UK. With over 32 million records, Copac represents the combined holdings of more than 60 UK libraries, including the following members of LMLAG –
- Courtauld Institute of Art
- Natural History Museum
- Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
- Science Museum Library
- Tate Library (Tate Britain)
- V&A National Art Library
- Imperial War Museum
Even if your library catalogue is not currently included in Copac, an excellent new feature allows supported libraries to search both their local catalogue and Copac simultaneously. See Copac’s development blog for more details.
Museum library catalogues are a vital component of Copac and although not accepting applications at the moment, any museum library that is interested in being part of Copac should let them know! Contact Bethan Ruddock, Challenge Fund Support Officer, if you want know more about the process of getting your library catalogue into Copac, and what’s more, to let the Copac team know just how many museums are interested in participating.
In the meantime, why not have a look at the Copac site and check out the latest developments on their news blog.
