Digital Preservation

by on January 19, 2011

The Natural History Museum is currently considering a subscription to either Portico (www.portico.org/digital-preservation) or LOCKSS (http://lockss.stanford.edu/lockss/Home). We are currently reviewing each product and assessing the benefits of subscribing to each of them.  Has any other institution subscribed to either of these products and, if so, can you share your reasoning why you chose one over the other?

  1. Dear Hannah,

The LSE Library subscribes to both Portico and LOCKSS. We last did a comparative review in May 2009 which I’m very happy for you to read. Please feel free to contact me directly, serials.manager@lse.ac.uk.
