The Future of MLAG
MLAG has been through some significant changes in recent years and there are some challenging questions to be addressed about our future direction. As a member-led organisation it is vital that you attend our meeting on Friday 17 May, 14.00, at the Museum of London, if at all possible, as we need as many of your viewpoints as possible to enable us to arrive at a consensus on our future.
Hope to see you there,
Martin
Would be good to know what the challenging questions are
Paul,
For example, are currrently without a Chair and several office holders have already resigned or are about to. Having had many highly successful conferences, seminars and institutional visits from 2005 to 2009 we have not managed to keep up the momentum over the last three years. Hopefully this gives you a flavour of the challenges we need to address.
Martin
That’s sad Martin. Best wishes for a successful meeting.
Paul
Sorry, perhaps I shouldn’t have painted such a bleak pcture. The group has gone national recently and now has members as far afield as Scotland, Northern Ireland ans Wales. One of our challenges will be to involve such a dispersed group in ways that are both helpful and manageable for them. MLAG has also consolidated its consortium purchasing of digital databses and is now looking at e-books as well. So plenty of positive developments as well.
Martin.
I won’t be able to attend the meeting but I am interested in helping from afar in any way I can
